The general features (more or less amplified according to one’s height/weight…let’s not forget that even in geometry there are 3 kinds of triangles) of the triangle women are: neat shoulders, little/medium breasts , well-defined waist, round butt, full thighs and inner thighs; proportionally the upper body area is more narrow than the lower one.
From this body type to the last one I will demonstrate you that being a “plus size” woman is not confined to only one body shape and I will also upload pictures with celebrities of every size and weight.
Women with this kind of body are different from others because they are usually proud of their natural curves, therefore they tend to enhance them instead of minimizing them, they know what plainness is and ignore it on purpose because we have a motto (yes this is my body shape as well) – from the words of our triangle body queen Jennifer Lopez – “Let’s get loud”.

To further help you, famous women with this body are: Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Valeria Marini, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Vanessa Incontrada …
What to emphasize then? Lead the attention to the upper body area, highlight waist and arms, increase shoulder volume in order to balance the whole silhouette.

We can have fun choosing upper body garments here! Go for boat neckline, V neckline tops, all the tops with rouches, volants, bows, decorations and every statement stuff you can imagine. Same advice goes for sleeves: pick puffed, bell, leg of mutton, circular flounce, trumpet, cuff, bishop, choir, dolman and so on sleeves, the bigger the better. What about trousers and jeans instead? Opt for a regular or high waist kind, mostly because triangle women usually suffer lordosis that enhances our buttcks making it even sexier but it also pushes our belly out and at the same time creates the “hole” in the lower back and high waist jeans avoid this nuisance. Besides, triangle mums have a hard time to losing the post-pregnancy weight in the inner thights area and if there’s also some extra belly fat too, high waist jeans are our most preciuos ally because they press where it’s needed to look flat and define our waistline. The greatest kind of dresses for a triangle body instead are the 70s ones, trapeze and emperor dresses. Trousers should be plain in the front (no pinces or anything that blows the line) and preferably palazzo trousers (even better the cropped kind, that in Italy we call “culotte”) or flare or regular leg jeans. If you have that big butt pride you should just wear skinny jeans then but be careful and pick the plain kind, not the washed out on the tight area kind. Also slouchy kind of tapered trousers look good on this kind of body shape. Prefer flat pointed top shoes, or kitten heels, stilettos and décolleté shoes; instead avoid T-strap and ankle strap shoes, they will make your legs shorter and fatter. Long cardigans without buttons and long vests are great, prefer shoulder bags, big scarves, statement necklaces, blouse and loose t-shirt and put them inside your jeans (or skirt) and then pull it off a bit, aka French tuck (take a closer look at the celebrities pictures and you will understand what I mean). This is actually a good trick to hide your belly in case it’s more than you can tolerate. What to avoid if you’re not Shakira, please: no to large belts, a big NO to low waist skinny jeans and a no to every kind of overly tight skirts. Trapeze and firm fabrics skirts (not the pleated ones!) are the better choice. But of course if you want the “badonkadonk” effect then wear a pencil skirt and all the heads will follow your bum…anytime I need a self-esteem boost I wear a pencil skirt!

Summing up all these directions, choose deep necklines, bandage dresses, very decorated or with important transparencies tops, high waist dresses (absolutely avoid low waist dresses please), avoid dresses with top decorations coming down all the way over the waist line (you would get the opposite effect by highlighting an already important part of your body); if you are more for jumpsuits then give a try to palazzo legs ones, and to decorated bustiers (rhinestone, gems and pearls). Now go and be fabulous!
