The hourglass body shape has neat shoulders as wide as the hips, bust goes from medium to abundant, has a prominent round bottom and a well defined waist. The main goal with this kind of body is to balance the upper part with the lower one, unless you are interested in highlighting only one of them, like your bust or your bottocks.
What is more suitable to wear for those with this type of figure? Tight, criss-cross dresses, statement belts to emphasize the waist line, sweetheart, rounded V, boat, one shoulder, crossed, straight, deep cut or turtle necklines. The ideal trousers are the straight leg ones but also a palazzo trousers, slouchy chino pants with pinces or the most eccentric possible trousers full of rouches along the legs will look like a masterpiece on you, while instead if I try this last one, I’d look like a piñata.
What about the waist line? High waist is the most recommended to enhance the waistline, but be careful, if it’s too high (like as the emperor waist line) you risk to erase your waist and look like you have legs that start right below your boobs.
Pencil skirts, A-line skirts, round, pleated, loose, mermaid, long / medium / short, the length’s limit is your sense of modesty.
Most recommended shoes are décolleté with stiletto heels, but you can also try large heels sandals, as well as rounded point ballerinas (pointed if you want to slender your figure) and wedges are also approved. The main “trouble” here is the incapability to manage these curves, that’s why sometimes you can make a mess by covering them too much or doing the opposite by exposing them too much.
This kind of women is also very fierce so the chance to see them in flashy outfits is high…after all you need a strong charisma to carry such a body.
The hourglass celebrities are: the most famous one Marilyn Monroe, the Italian counterpart Sofia Loren, Beyoncé, Salma Hayek, Christina Hendricks (she moves from a normal hourglass to a full hourglass, so you can take her as an example for the plus size), Katherine Heigl, Sofia Vergara, Dita Von Teese.
